Notes for Guy Leston BARRETT
The echoes of joyful Christmas carols will no more than have faded over the mountain peaks,.......when wedding bells will ring out merrily on Thursday, December 27, to announce fifty years of happy married life for Mr. and Mrs. G. Leston Barrett of Ashland, for many years residents of Lisbon.
Happy to have their four children and six grandchildren present to make merry at this typical home life event. Mr. and Mrs. Barrett will hold "open House" to greet old friends and neighbors from all over the state. A cordial welcome is extended to all at their home on the Daniel Webster Highway, a short distance from Ashland Square.
Mr. and Mrs. Barrett began their married life in Lisbon, on December 27, 1894, and for many years took part in church and fraternal work. They were, members of the M.E. Church. Mr. Barrett, a faithful employee for many years of the Parker-Young Co., is a Past Master of the I.O.O.F. in Lisbon, while Mrs. Barrett is Past Worthy Matron of the O.E.S. in Ashland.
Two sons and two daughters have blessed their union. Arthur, after serving two years in France with the 14th Engineers, has been employed the past sixteen years by the Boston & Maine R.R. He is a Past Grand Master of the I.O.O.F. of New Hampshire.
Howard, a graduate of the General Electric apprentice school for mechanics is employed by the Standard Oil Co. Both sons reside with their families in Nashua.
Nellie, a former teacher in the Lisbon schools and in Massachusetts, is the wife of Gustav F. Braun of Everett, Massachusetts.
Maude, formerly secretary in the firm of William Whitman Co. of Boston, Mass., is the wife of Fred P. Browne of Barre, Vermont.
